In 1941 Harvey Slade opened a portrait Studio and Camera Store in downtown Tallahassee. Harvey Slade’s historic Collection of Photos can be viewed at the Florida State Library.
In 1948 Mrs. Lavern Mohr purchased the camera portion of Harvey’s business, Slade’s Camera Center became Tallahassee Camera Center. Lavern, and subsequently her son Charles operated the store until 1987. In that period the downtown store was closed, and a 6500 sq. ft. store was opened on Apalachee Parkway
In 1987, Michael Fraser assumed ownership and changed the name to Tallahassee Camera and Image Center.
In 2014 the name was changed to Tallahassee Photo and Frame and the business moved to its current location on Capital Circle southeast. Due to Competitive factors and Digital Imaging, Tallahassee Camera and Image Center discontinued the sale of Cameras and related accessories to concentrate on Photo related services. Name was changed to communicate new concentration.
